The 'How to Get into the Christmas Spirit' Guide!

Hello, my lovelies!

We are a little further into the beautiful month that is December and so I thought I’d try to give everyone some Christmas spirit and give you some Christmassy ideas of how to spend your lazy December days. So here is my ‘How to Get into the Christmas Spirit’ guide!

Number One: How to be Cosy
December is the first month of the season of winter and so that means that it is (usually in places such as the UK) very cold. I know many relaxing ways to keep warm during the winter season and so here are some tips for you all.

Have a nice, long, warm bath. The key to having an enjoyable bath (for me anyway!) is to put lots and lots of lavender-scented bubble bath mixture into your bath. I have a favourite bubble bath at the moment and it is called ‘Radox Relax Bath Soak’ with ‘lavender and waterlily’. It is a lavender-scented one which just makes you feel incredibly relaxed and is great in a hot bath. You will feel all sleepy and snuggly and Christmassy and just amazing once you’re out of the bath.

Get about 14 different blankets and snuggle on the sofa. This is one of the main reasons I love Christmas as it just gives you the excuse to hog the sofa and cuddle up to a heap of quilts and blankets without anyone questioning whether you’re too hot or not. You can also wear a onsie or, if you have a pet like me, you can snuggle with blankets, in a onsie, with your pet which is what I am doing here:

Whack out the hot chocolate and tea. This is something I do all year round anyway but it’s a great way of warming yourself up when you’re inside on a cold day. I prefer tea personally but let me know if you prefer tea or hot chocolate. It’ll be nice to know if I’m in the minority or the majority here.

Number Two: How to Decorate the House

Christmas is the best time to make your home even more home-y with lots of reds and greens and pretty fairy lights and tinsel and not feel like you’re going way too overboard. It’s also the only time of year where it is acceptable to have a huge piece of bark with leaves and stuff on it plopped in the middle of your front room but there we go. Here are a few ways to make Christmas in your home:

Get a tree from a park and put it in a room in your house or something. That’s always a good idea. This is known as ‘the Christmas Tree’ as you can decorate it with lots and lots of pretty things and it is a ‘symbol of Christmas’. My family’s Christmas Tree is actually a fake one where we just put it together every year instead of buying loads of different ones. We always put fairy lights on it, baubles, and lots and lots of Disney character Christmas Tree decorations. We then put a little angel on the top to make it all pretty.

Buy a nutcracker that rocks on a rocking horse. We have this because mum thought it was Christmassy and stuff.

Put a wreath on your front door. This makes Santa feel welcome when he comes and makes him more likely not to skip your house (number one, Santa IS real please do not question my knowledge and number two, he really does skip houses!) Also, decorate the house with lots of other Christmassy ornaments.

Number 3: How to Prepare for Christmas Day

The third and final step is the most important for me. This doesn’t mean to go out and buy the Christmas dinner or to wrap a load of awkwardly shaped Christmas presents. It means to do little exciting things that make the lead up to Christmas extra cute.

WATCH A CHRISTMAS FILM! This is a hugely important part of Christmas for me as, every year without fail, I watch ‘Elf’ with my family which is my favourite Christmas film. However, one I do recommend other than ‘Elf’ (as I know ‘Elf’ is an easy option for me to rave about) is ‘Nativity’ which stars a huge class of primary school kids and teachers and it is the cutest film ever.

LISTEN TO CHRISTMAS MUSIC! You WITHOUT FAIL should listen to some cheesy Christmas music such as Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ or ‘Last Christmas’ otherwise what is the point in Christmas, really? Pop it on your iPod, get a CD and listen to it in your car, whack on the Christmas music radios or whatever and you will be in a Christmassy mood, trust me.

Finally, OPEN YOUR ADVENT CALANDARS BECAUSE THERE IS CHOCOLATE AND STUFF. This is one of those things that doesn’t really need explaining as chocolate is the gift from the heavens and you should love chocolate regardless of whether you get a little Christmassy shaped treat each day of one month so show me all your advent calendars and we can compare and see who’s got the best one.

So this was a little different and I hope you all enjoyed it. If you did, if you could follow my blog on Google+ that would just be brilliant. Hope you all have a fantastic week and I’ll speak to you soon!

Love you loads.
